Sublimity: Pathways to Peace meditation

Nurturing the Natural Environment

Think how you feel when someone takes advantage of you or when you feel that someone is taking you for granted or when you observe that a friend is never there for you but always ready to call when they need something.  Are we not at times prone to treating the natural environment like a neglected friend?  Do we not often treat Nature from a one-sided perspective?

It tends to be all about our needs when it comes to our interactions with Nature.  The examples are numerous.  Here’s a simple one that I commit:  let me go for a walk in the English Garden because all those splendid flowers will rejuvenate me.  It does not occur to me to ask: what can I do for the English Garden? I go because of my needs.

Can we really say we are interacting with Nature when the focus of the encounter is on what we need?  It’s like a case of one-way communication.  We perhaps think of Nature as the strong one in the relationship – after all Nature seems to bounce back, to carry on, demonstrating resilience after resilience.  But we know that Nature has reached her breaking point.

Mother Earth needs our nurturing, our attention, our appreciation and our gratitude.

Focus of the Meditation

Sending energy of love and blessings to Mother Nature for the amazing environment she has provided us with in which to live out our lives.  To make our appreciation and gratitude more tangible let’s also each ask for guidance during the meditation on how to be of service to Nature.

Meditation Reflection

Give to nature for the sake of giving and not for personal benefit or gain.  Like unto a mother, a kind word or gesture or your presence and love is comfort and good cheer to Mother Nature and leaves her revived when entities consciously acknowledge and bless her.  Rest awhile with her on a regular basis; make her feel special by taking the time to pause and celebrated her.  A smile, a kind word, a conscious presence goes a long way.  Visit Nature like you visit a mother.  Take this approach into your hearts and you will find that your interactions deepen and assist Nature to heal and revitalize herself for she does indeed suffer from neglect and self-serving behaviours of the many.

The gentle way, the cradling way will cause necessary shifts to be set in motion.  The miraculous is possible with belief and conscious intent put forth clearly towards desired ends.
