RELEASING SELF-JUDGMENTS
Begin by taking three deep breaths in and holding each for five seconds and then exhaling: breath in, hold it, and breath out; breath in, hold it, and breath out; and one more deep breath in, hold it and release. Relax every part of your body starting with your feet, working your way up to your head, notice if your shoulders are arched or tense, and relax them. Put aside the cares of the day.
From this place of centeredness, ask for guidance from your Higher-Self-Inner-Wisdom to select one aspect of your behaviour that you judge harshly.
Now gently consider the behaviour you have selected from the point of view of those on the receiving end. See yourself as the person to whom said behaviour is directed and notice how you feel in your body, how you feel in your heart, and the type of emotional reaction you have when that behaviour is aimed at you. Observe without judgement; this is crucial. Let it be an experience of self growth by witnessing the self from the perspective of another.
Release yourself from the viewer’s perspective and return to yourself. Thank yourself for being willing to genuinely witness your behaviour from the point of view of a recipient. Now send yourself a loving thought. This is the compassion that you are to demonstrate to the self. Inspite of the behaviour you are not proud of, you are still worthy of love as you make your way on the journey of awakening and awareness.
Bring your meditation to a close by reminding yourself that we are each at our own pace trying to make our way on the journey of awakening and awareness. Remember that, and may it bring you peace and understanding towards the self.
